Warning; This book was disliked by John Stevens according to his latest book.

To me the book is much better than average. There are wonderful pictures; maybe they are lifted from the internet but still they make an interesting collection. The use of Japanese primary references is limited but proper referencing to those used is used!

There are great stories that I had not previously encounterd e.g. Shoriki Matsutaro best known for donating money for 1958 Kodokan building.

I recommend this book for those wanting a good read. Do not expext to find something that is not known, but expect to find lost of things you did not know.
