Out of curiosity, does anyone have a link to an online handbook / course guide for the typical 3yr judo therapy courses? I'm curious to see how it stacks up against similar undergraduate training in Osteopathy etc. Just an idle curiosity and conversation starter

Your best bet would be to phone in a Japanese friend and ask them to e-mail/call them to be honest. It seems to be a relatively new field, so it is unlikely that Japanese immigrants would know specifics in that detail. I can tell you that it takes quite a bit of searching to find a Western University that posts its entire program syllabus online and you'd be even harder pressed to find one given the language barrier.

If you do a google search you will find that there are several Judo Therapy colleges in Tokyo, each with a decent website,

From what I understand Judo therapy was originally taught to specifically deal with judo injuries - muscle tears, strains, joint injuries etc, and it is similasr to physiotherapy.

    Good luck with your search.

"Judo Therapy" refers to a method of treating broken or dislocated bones, contusions and sprains, etc., using judo therapy.
Judo therapy is a quasi-medical practice, and under the Judo Therapy Law (Clause 15), excepting medical doctors, judo therapy cannot be practiced by anyone other than a trained judo therapist.

In the sport of judo where opponents are vigorously thrown or grappled, a powerful force is applied on the bones, ligaments and joints, etc., and often the participant is subject to bone fractures or dislocations, contusions or sprains. Treatments which originally started to treat these injuries uses a treatment method called "Judo Therapy."

In judo therapy, the patient is treated by directly touching the afflicted area and carefully checking the condition. No injections such as anesthesia or medicines are used. By communicating with the patient during the treatments, the patient's self-healing powers are improved, and the patient is guided to recovery.
