    "generally considered" ???
I'd be curious to hear the dissenting opinion.

    Ohh... and
    Congratulations to Shepherd-Sensei.
(Regardless of who the founder is.)

    Is this a USJF promotion?

Would be an interesting topic, who was the founder of "sport Judo" with the focus on competition and medals and for entertaining spectators.

    Charles Palmer?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Palmer_(judoka)

The inclusion of Judo as a permanent sport at the Olympics since Munich 1972?

Anton Geesink as a role model of athletism and that the West can overcome the East?

Draeger with his weight lifting methods?

Mifune with the All Japan Championships?

Kano himself because of his belt system and darwinistic dan selection/promotion  in red and white tournaments

instead of the old menkyo tradition?
