New Gi Rules Empty New Gi Rules

Post by davidn Wed Dec 18, 2013 12:50 pm

I just saw the new gi rules. The sleeves now have to reach the wrist, and when the lapels are crossed, there can be no more than 10cm between the top cross point and the top of the sternum.

Is there any reason for this? Does the 5cm on the wrist make that much difference? And still the 20cm overlap at the waist. Will the sternum measurement make a different?

Just means that everybody that competes has to get all new suits. Trying to aid the manufacturers who paid their fees?

Good grief, I hope not. Finding gi to fit long armed and legged individuals is nearly impossible now.

New Gi Rules Empty 2015 Red vs Blue (edged) IJF Approved Label

Post by FightingSpirit Mon Mar 23, 2015 5:32 am

Looking for 2015 IJF clarification on the implementation of the new Gi rules as it applies to IJF approved Label.
What if any is the difference in the newer red vs older blue 'outter-edged' IJF approved labels?
Are both approved in IJF sanctioned events or what exactly is the intended purpose of the new distinctive red colored edges on the label (if any)?
