Kano paper on jujutsu - 1880's Empty Kano paper on jujutsu - 1880's

Recently I found what may be the earliest description by Kano shihan of jujutsu in Japanese.

It parallels the Lindsay article of Kano shihan's English presentation in 1888 but has significant differences, too. Clearly written for a Japanese audience vice a foreign one.

    What a find!

I expect an English translation by the time I wake up tomorrow, Lance.

As soon as your check clears, I'm on it.

This thing is so old it uses a kanji for 'jû' I've never seen before.

The most interesting part is his (non) treatment of jûdô.

I'll have to send you a pic - I can't find the character in any font.

Do you have bibliographic info for this? And or would you be willing to share a scan? I can't PM yet, but will do so when I can. Also, in what way is it targeted for the audience?

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.

Oh, and if you have the kanji, I'll see what I can find in my various dictionaries... Smile
