British Trials 2013 Empty British Trials 2013

So some interesting results from the British Closed (Trials) COmpetition this weekend. I wonder how this will shape up in the Performance Squads? Quite a few top players missing, some injured some just not there not sure why. Some good competition some average.

Top 2 results have to be Chris Waddell (Scot but not a member of the Edinburgh Club) beating Colin Oates in U66 and taking the title and Nekoda Davis beating Sophie Cox but only ending up with the Bronze. Now then was this just off day for the Olympians or the start of something new? I wonder what the British Squads will look like now and how many international competitions some of them will get to.

Historically BJA team management have ignored the results of the trials and preferred to go with the "establishment big names" irrespective of recent form.

Yep was hoping that maybe things might be slightly different now. But we shall see. There ought to be enough competition to go round to give everyone a chance to probe themselves internationally in this down year

The picks for the first few International tournaments were announced.... just a few days before the GB Closed Championship took place at the weekend.

They've made picks for events up until May now and based selections on World and European rankings this time.

This means there are medal winners from the GB Closed, including silver and - yes gold medal winners - who have been picked for zero events. Others who did not compete or who even did compete but finished out of the medals have been picked for events.

Tough on those who beat, sometimes decisively, their opposition to then see those those they defeated get picked ahead of them.

Same old same old. Would be nice if some of those in the top 4 who are new could get opportunities to prove themselves
