    Congratilations to Sensei Naoki Murata on his promotion to Hachidan.

    Sensei Murata is a Kodokan scholar, curator of the Kodokan museum, director of the Kodokan library, a prolific writer (in Japanese) on Judo history and development.

    I am hoping we can invite him to the United States some day to present some seminars on Judo. Are any of the NGB's interested. He can also teach a great class in Koshiki-no-kata for those willing to do some preparatory study well in advance of such a seminar.

    Back in 2002 the wife and I were in Japan visiting with out son and family (Navy base) and we went down to the Kodokan for a visit.  When I went up to the museum I began talking with Murata and we discovered we had both been in Kotani sensei SAC-ARDC combative measures class in 1961 (me) and he later on.  He was a student of Kotani then.  We had a great talk about the good old days.  Time flies when we're having fun.
