    With regard to the title of this thread, Hirano's first name was 'Tokio', not 'Tokyo' like the name of the Japanese capital. It' is written with entirely different kanji and the two 'o's' in Hirano's first name are short, whereas those in the name of the city are long vowels.

    There was an important Hirano memorial event in France last month which I had been looking forward to for a long time, but much to my regret I was unable to attend.
