    Randori Advice Empty Randori Advice

Post by hobit Sun Sep 28, 2014 8:54 am

Looking for a bit of advice on Randoro

In Randori I have trouble with landings when being thrown, on landing I keep banging a knee (mainly the right one). Which seems to either stain the joint or inflame the bursa. I do try to step out or resist the throws which I expect is not helping my landings. So far the damage has been minor but I have concerns on allowing this to continue.

So what do I change to reduce banging my knees while it has not stopped me doing judo. A session with the dan grades did seriously hurt for a few days and put me off going back to that class. While I expected to spend a lot of time putting ukemi into practise I seem to have just got it wrong and hurt.

I gather you are banging your knees together, common fault and the pain is excruciating for a few minutes just practice keeping your knees away from each other on your ukemi!!!!!!

Relaxing and just taking the throws will also help...Randori is for practicing all of your techniques....including Ukemi.
