I'm absolutely gutted that Haruka has been banned for a year as she is one of my favourite players ever. I'm also completely and utterly amazed that she could be involved with an illegal substance. It staggers me. She just doesn't seem the type.
The substance was prevalent in an over the counter cold remedy. It seems odd though possible that she would purchase this without consulting her coach or doctor. The product was subsequently found in her hotel room in Dusselforf just prior to the beginning of the tournament there.
She is 24 years old with a wealth of experience of senior competition at the highest level so this does seem like an incredible mistake. The question is, was she just naive or did she know exactly what she was doing?
