New videos from Nick Lowry. I haven't watched it all (part 1 is 45 minutes by itself), but the premise may be of interest. Starts slow - feel free to skip to 6 minutes

Re: Aikido: Judo at a Distance
Would love to watch the whole video but I can't get past two things ...
- the term "judo at a distance" is already taken, perhaps others will post on that subject;
- "kaze no uta?" you must be joking.
Next Monday during randori I can tell young Ross that there is a Japanese name for his chronic, dojo-emptying condition.

Are you sure as the link says;-
Are your classes considered disciplined?
"No they are fun and relaxed -- sometimes hard work -- but still fun and relaxed."
Yet the clip doesn't quite portray that.

Re: Aikido: Judo at a Distance
I believe his Shudokan (i.e., Tomiki ryu) aikido line primarily runs Tomiki - Miyake Tsunako - Karl Geiss which would explain some of that.
Some of his explanation of Japanese is wrong, but he's probably has heard it second and third hand - or made it up, I don't know. But not correct.
He looks like he's (re)discovered Nihon Jujutsu, an art greatly influenced by Tomiki's aikibujutsu, the basis of his aikido.

Direct, much like the 'judo at a distance' he mentions.

Nice to see the videos here. Few good videos I found at http://www.judo.com.gr/videos/high-definition/ too so it may also help to all.

Re: Aikido: Judo at a Distance
Aikido is kindof like judo if you took out everything that makes it useful, interesting or fun.
