Would anyone know anything about Yuichi Hirose - the father of judo in the Philippines and a co-author with Kotani and later Kotani and Osawa of books on Kodokan kata.

I wrote and asked the Kodokan about Hirose-sensei as well some time back, but they had no real information about him. He was on the IJF website as a Vice President, with a photo of him much older, but clearly the same man, not that long ago. There was a dob for him I recall - and would have made him about 100 years old if still alive. I cannot navigate to that IJF page anymore - guess its been taken down as a load of the people on it were dead.
