Which resistance bands? Empty Which resistance bands?

Post by Hardbic Sat Aug 18, 2018 7:38 am

    Hello!
I would like to buy resistance bands to improve my judo skills. I would like to do uchi komi to throws like: De ashi barai, kouchi gari, osoto gari, ouchi gari, uchi mata, ippon seoinage etc.
Which resistance bands shoud I buy? My trener recomended for me Neil Adams bands. But they are expensive, 50 pounds. I'm thinking maybe I can buy just normal crossfit resistance bands?
    What do you think?

Honestly you can get pretty much the same effect using a DIY approach.
Lots of folks have used old bicycle inner tubes.
Some Hardware stores sell bungee cord by the yard/metre. You can sometimes get in different strengths or double and triple the cord to vary the strength.

I have done it with a belt on a tree at a nearby park but was wondering about bands myself.

    NittyRanks,
I was planning to do uchikomi on a tree in the park, and was wondering if one needed to 'pad' the tree, and maybe also reinforce the bands with duct tape or something similar, in order to minimize wear on the tree and the bands. Any ideas?

Which resistance bands? Empty resistant bands connected with climbing loop with carabiner

Post by noboru Mon May 20, 2019 6:53 pm

I use resistant bands connected with climbing loop with carabiner for practice in outside (tree).

    Example Which resistance bands? S-l300

    ---------------
Here are resistant bands from Neil Adams. http://effectivejudo.com/uchikomi-bands/ I use similar. Some my friends uses older dynamic climbing single ropes (older rejected from climbers), but the resistant bands wirth sleeves are better for me. In older times japanese judoka used obi and they were happy.
