Luis Gardia from Miami has become the first person who (finally) is not of Japanese heritage who has been promoted to 9th dan by the USJF:

    Congrats !!

USJF has also promoted Uchida 'Yosh' Yoshihiro from SJSU to 9th dan, while USA Judo's according to its own information (as I have reported earlier) has apparently promoted him to 10th dan although strangely no news report still mentions this exceptionally high (10th dan) rank. So also congrats to Uchida-sensei for this second promotion.

Comgratulaotions to Mr Gardia on this promotion. In the Miami Herald, he is referred to as Hanshi. Which body bestowed this title on him?
