Advent is still said to be the "quiet time of the year" in our part of the world, but reality differs from that, today. Everybody is busy, and still has a lot of things to do before the holidays, and every group one belongs to, every State or private enterprise people work for, organize (company) Christmas Celebrations at the evenings of these days. Therefore, in our club, training attendance tend to drop toward the end of the year.
Nevertheless, we always try to make the last training of a year something special, a more solemn event than usual training. We only lay out a small area of the hall with tatami, wear the more formal and festive garments where present, apply the more ceremonial reishiki, that our late teacher, Harada-sensei, had established in his Jigenryū - complete with sutra recitation and a period of Zazen, and the rest of the time we hold an enbu, and all members present perform their jūjutsu. After that the teacher invites everybody to go for a dinner together.
Of course, it's ceremony and demonstration of techniques, forms and principles. It's neither hardcore SD-training, nor MMA-tournament, but I hope, you'll nevertheless enjoy the following excerpts of our last training in 2013. Happy holidays to all of you!
