Years ago ... at a national tournament ... my friend Phil and I volunteered ... better to say we WERE volunteered by Tawni McBee to time and score at a table together. In the course of the day, we drew the 18 to 20 year old women. For those who haven't paid attention, that is the age the average young lady seems to discover chokes, armbars and general aggressiveness. Often no clue what they are doing, but they do it vigorously.
Now Phil was a very conservative gentleman, had a degree in sacred music, always sang the National Anthem ... devoted to wife, children and family values. Earned his shodan in competition at the age of 60. A real model of a judo man.
Well ... the day dragged on match after match after hair and T-shirt pulling match. Suddenly ... as two very pretty young ladies were doing their best to kill each other in front of us Phil suddenly turned to me and said in a gentlemanly tenor ... "Bill, I do believe there are those who would PAY to watch this."
... I think this was before Ronda was born ...
