Was there a MA named Judo before Kano's judo?

I remember hearing a reference that there was a jujutsu called judo from many centuries ago, my question is did this influence Jigoro Kano's mind to name it after that or maybe that other "Judo" had similar techniques.
Doed anyone have any reference to this? Or is that just hearsay?
