9th Dans At The Kodokan

Since the recent passing of Daigo Sensei I wonder if another 10 degree promotion could happen before too long.

Which leads me to wondering how many Kodokan 9th degrees are there?

I hope Uemura to be promoted to 10th dan.

About a month ago, Ichiro Abe passed. Now there is ony one Kodokan living 10th dan (Yoshimi Osawa sensei).

The Kodokan recently has been consistently promoting senior judoka to the grade of 9th dan - usually in quite large blocks....

Any rough  estimate of the Number on 9th Degrees?
Any new 10th dan in the near future? Osawa is 96.

Today Osawa died.

Following the recent bulk promotions and of course deaths of elderly judoka, I would estimate there are between 20 and 30 9th dan holders. All are men, except one Joshi 9th dan.

I believe that Shiro Yamamoto is the oldest 9th dan holder.
