I always considered Judo as a tool for education as it aids children in development of concentration and respect among others. It depends on how far a child wants to take their "career" in Judo, but often thinking too far ahead causes disappointment when a goal is not reached so that consideration is better taken when they become more mature.
That is the way I see it as a novice.
