Sorry, Not based off my Anti-reversal thread in open but my just seeing our 'ijf is destroying judo post'. Uranage hasnt worked for beans for judoka in forever vs others from what I've seen, so why keep it? Any tuff judoka in a fight with other judoka, wrestlers or bjjers wont ever need to use ura-nage because it sux. Its that rare. Assuming you have a developed base judo game.

I love it Rice. I do huge. They just don't pan out.

Here's my fave judo vid and I remind you that if ufc never happened, you and I would be now arguing these in a friendly manner....My seoinage buries this shiot...lol, j/k...(p.s. my fave move in all of judo vids is at 1:13, shows another slo-mo replay from a different angle right after)

p.p.s. the pantleg throw at the first pic of vid is pant-leg. We should ask more from judoka but not if we allow pants.

    All these pantleg throws eh?

ah, Sry Rice. The hooks. That vid just shows horrible hooking. Yes, you can still, as a thrower, commit your hooked leg but even then the result is slim at best, I bet, and the failed ura-nage is still sacrifice. Ugly and embarassing.lol

Yes but you will see the Georgian Greek dude escaoe the hooks to make the throw work, people rush it with the hooks too often and self pin.

Training these is easy and can be dine no gi, here is vid from 2 weeks ago at my club, first three off an ogoshi grip

The next thing they learn is the counters which is grapevine and leg pick. They then progress to kearn how to ungrapevine as in the judo vid.

    These throws are fun!

When he should've been training more seoinage or uchi-mata? Or some applying the hooks are pretty good at shifting direction there as well.

I know they're fun Rice. And effective to a point. I really just don't believe that the new IJF rules are all that bad. Especially from a crosstrainers perspective. A few years ago all I wanted was the Russians to get into mma; doing judo mma with their adapted to 'wrestling style'. Looking back now tho, and I'm being very vague here.. outside of judo, all that has ever worked for me was the japanese style.lol Vague I said. In MMA, all I've ever seen consistantly work for 1995-2010 judoka has been the japanese style. The other 'wrestling' styles that have fit into judo were because of the long pants and it has always looked rediculous from a combat perspective imo. A North American judoka will typically have plenty of wrestling experience. They arent ever going to shoot on a wrestler or need to uranage one. They arent going to need to shoot on a bjjer or uranage one. They arent going to need to shoot on an mmaer unless he's a kickboxer or uranage one. All because they have a killer clinch and throw game compared. They will however shoot on another judoka if he's wearing big, damp, cotton pants. Even if he fails, he will still have or had enuff decent control to wreck game.
