Turning Throw Drill and Counter Empty Turning Throw Drill and Counter

This is a drill I get guys to do who are learning turning throws, the principles are good for gi or no-gi as you choose throws that don't rely on gi grips such as hip and headlock throws.

This is good drill to do at a park or such as ukemi is not important, the sand training inhibits foot movement to a degree and causes foot placement to be paramount.

The counter is a simple half step around, pull the opponent into your hips so they are off their balance and proceed to back arch. My pickup is of better quality than my hip throws but this is something I want to work on.

The swim after is the best.

    Enjoy.

    Cheers
