Judo Competition Dojo LONDON Empty Judo Competition Dojo LONDON

Post by FranciscoMartinez Mon Jan 13, 2014 11:53 pm

    Hi there,

I am thinking about starting to train Judo again, after more than two years without wearing a Judo suit. I would like to know if there is a good place in London, focussed in competition and randori, and with medium and high level Judo players. I am originally from Spain, have several national and international medals in under 20, under 23 & senior levels, so no really looking for a technical, chilled lessons.

Anyone could help me with information about suitable places?

    Many thanks
    Fran

You can get all you want at the Budokwai.

    Many thanks for your answers.
Do you know about any other one? Budokwai location is not ideal for me... Plus is a bit expensive to be honest.

You have to decide what you want.
If you need the challenge, find a way to get to the Budokwai; or else, you will have to satisfy yourself of somewhere a bit more "chilled".

I would imagine that if you're from Spain that financially speaking, London is just a bad choice as it is a notoriously expensive city. If you want worse, you could always try out Stockholm or Tôkyô, two other ridiculously expensive places. London is so expensive that many airlines almost give away their plane tickets for free since the taxes at London's airports are out of this world.

If you just want to compete, why not Dartfort or similar ?

Is not that I have any kind of financial problem, I have been living here for more than 2 years now, but obviously I want to know which are the options available in order to choose the one that fits me better.

Maybe you should give us the town or place you live in. There are many judo clubs around London.

Enter your postcode and this will give a list of BJA clubs.

Also worth trying out BJC clubs - just try everything close by until you find something that fits your needs.

If the Budokwai is inconvenient from north London to the OP, Dartford would be worse I would guess.

You could try Enfield Judo Club, it's not too far from you.
