Does anyone know of any research (especially peer-reviewed) which discusses the mechanics of shime-waza and in particular hadaka-jime? I am looking for articles that discusses the amount of force needed to cause loss of consciousness and/or other damage (for example, fractured hyoid bone or cartilage damage). I am also looking for articles (again, peer-reviewed if possible) that discusses injuries and fatalities when applying these techniques. Many thanks.

Here is a link which includes some images, video, and articles about judo shimewaza: http://judoinfo.com/chokes1.htm
One or the articles says: "the amount of pressure directed to the superior carotid trianile needs to be no more than 300 mm Hg to cause unconsciousness in an adult." http://judoinfo.com/chokes5.htm
