    Katame-waza ura-no-kata 固め技裏の形 Empty Katame-waza ura-no-kata 固め技裏の形

A Wiki entry I hadn't noticed before.   It sources partly from de Cree's critically flawed, pedantic paper on Nage to Katame Ura Waza.

Ito sensei's book is the primary resource for anyone in Japan that teaches either the Nage or Katame ura waza.   De Cree misdescribed the close relationship between Mifune 10dan and Ito sensei.  Mifune sensei was a founding member and 10 dan / meijin of the International Martial Arts Federation: Ito sensei, a member of his juku (private school) was the Director, IMAF.  www.imaf.com  Mifune sensei was a strong supporter of Ito sensei and IMAF.

Is there a resource for a good English translation of Ito sensei book?

So far, there's not even a bad one in the public.

I've already made a partial translation - Sato sensei told me I could, before he died some years ago. .... ...... . ...

A friend of mine has started on a project like this. He somehow obtained that katame waza portion of the book. He said his reading sucks, but he has a friend (also judoka) who is a professional translator who will be working on it. No word on the nage waza portion yet, but I've had some interest since I saw a demo of it a few years ago.

That book is very much under copyright.
Many of the books that Johan is selling in another current thread are not, but I know for a fact that book is under copyright.

And if you'd never been taught the kata, even if it were perfectly translated, it wouldn't make much sense.

That is often the case with such books.

Definitely won't make much sense for me, just a weekend warrior shodan. However, there is apparently a teacher nearby who has done it (in Japan, before moving to the US... This is how they learned the nage waza ura no kata) who is helping them. Unfortunately, English is very much a second language, so explanations can be difficult. I'm hoping they make some progress, sucks to see these things drop by the wayside.
