Purpose
- Kata (form) is a prearranged set of techniques to teach, learn and practice the techniques (waza) and principles (ri) of Judo - like proper breathing and walking, balanced moving, proper posture, proper gripping, proper space and proper timing, tsukuri - kuzushi - kake, control, proper falling, an open mind and awareness = "best use of mind and body /energy" - and to blend/harmonize (ri ai) them by practicing.
- Students should be able to use all throwing principles (hand, hip, foot/leg, side and straight sacrifice techniques) to both sides and they should be able to do the most common and effective throws without a Gi (no Gi) because of proper self defence.

Thanks to Shintaro Higashi for the good examples!
Instructors can find their best No Gi examples and set ups for each throw.
Important are the principles and that you can use them (mechanical) sound and properly (seiryoku zenyo = minimum effort - maximum efficiency)
