So, is this gent a refugee from professional wrestling? There's not much wrong with attractive young women properly attired for a family venue, but this is simply over the top.
The next time the S-city Judo Federation guys look at me askance for showing up at their shiai _without a tie_ but still in sports jacket and slacks, maybe I'll show them this and ask if they'd prefer if I show up in a Speedo.

The organisers and officials allowed Wedgieman and the drunken announcer to continue throughout what was the 2013 Australian Womens Open Judo event. They are responsible for organising scantily clad female escorts, alcohol and tables adjoining the mat area.The honorable thing would be for the organisers to apologise and resign. Perhaps then Australian Judo could get back to the aims and objectives espoused by the founder.

Steve spot on. The Aussie Judo people maybe need new people in charge if they make this Dinner thing, and think this joke thing funny and ok.

I would like to thank every one for their support and comments here on E-Judo on FB and on my John Judo youtube account. As you can understand, I have posted this video to youtube so that the JFA would not sweep it under the rug and deny it happened. I have done this with out making my personal details know just in case they decide to take action for re posting this video after the original owner had taken it down. Thankfully I kept a copy just in case the JFA asked to have it removed believing that it needs to been seen and something positive done to change the prevailing attitude that exists with in the board of management of the JFA . Again thanks for the support and comments. I hope in the near future something positive comes out of this.

Maybe they say "it being investigated. Can not say anything until investigation is complete". 6 months later, same story. 
Look on the JFA website. No statement. Staff on holidays from today (good timing). Website say contact person for JFA is Secretary Stewart Brain. Smart man if he go on holiday too.

Lets get some facts on record. Mark Calaway, from ACT, is a member of the National Referee Commission and the video only shows a short selection of his "act". The bulk of people protesting seem to be referees, many of whom dislike the caberet approach to the Australian Open Championships and boycotted the night. This has been stewing for 2 years now. If action is to be taken against the JFA directors, it has to come from the State associations.

I saw a email from Mathew Hill after this 'event' i will paste a small section of the mail below (the rest was about the nationals in general which i am happy to post if someone wants it)

My opinion of the events of Sunday night were that there was nothing that happened at the dinner or during the Open Weight competition that was not appropriate for the setting. For those people who have been trying to suggest that there is no time or place for a man in his underwear than I would advise you not to attend a beach, pool or live taping of the footy show, NRL or AFL anytime soon. The attempts at comedy entertainment during the evening may not have been as sophisticated as some might want but we are strictly amateur, unscripted and unable to please all the people all the time.
The Open Weight competition was not ever supposed to be comparable to the seriousness of the finals of each individual weight category. The changes to the time limit (4 min) and allowance of a warning for leg grabs should have made this clear. In previous years the Open has been subjected to entries from whoever is willing to stay around at the end of the tournament and has had a number of years without even being run. We were able to showcase the strong history of Australian judo that is still interested in attending the Nationals with the Parade of Champions and had a fantastic debut from Aris from Victoria who proved himself to be a quality judoka with a big future and an entertaining individual.
I am sure you all have your opinion of the night, some in agreement with me and some not. I would suggest that you take the evening in the spirit that it was intended, a night to have fun, and then if you still think that certain things were not done as you would like please let me know. If you do think that this was a great night and extremely enjoyable then please get out there and let it be known before there are any repercussions for individuals that are not supported by the wider judo community.

It has a large perpetual trophies that divisions dont, it is now a cash prize to the winner that divisions dont, it is a true best player wins as it is a open vs best with in these weights so actually a harder division to win in my mind, if the division finals are more important why is it that you have a full layout with tables, prizes, sponsors were you dont for divisions?
"Mutual Welfare and Benefit."-- Jigoro Kano - I dont think public exposure is contributing value to the world of judo, or the sports reputation either. It doent support one of the key ideas that Jigoro Kano had for the sport.
This behavior would not be acceptable at another competition say commonwealth games, Olympics, football, golf, crickets or even a local little tiny football game, it would offend people there as well.
I feel there should be repercussions and would be disappointed if there was not.

First, Andre Mikalov. I did not say the referees were the problem. I tried to say the referees were strongly AGAINST the actions of the night.
Second: The Matt Hill apologia was sent out as part of a continuing series of "information" letters about the "volunteers dinner" and the open prize-fight. I consider it was out of place in that context. Mr Hill has obviously put a lot of work into what could have been an excellent showcase for judo, but seems to have gone wrong! The prize-fight boxing/pro-wrestling/MMA atmosphere is NOT for judo. An exciting event, showcasing judo, can be done with dignity and a recognition of the ethics of judo.

I now more confused Mr Kiichisai. You say now referees not the problem? And now you say referees AGAINST the actions of the night? MANY people against the actions of the night and not only referees. It look like many people angry and not happy with the night, all round world. So maybe referees not so bad at all. They the smart ones to not have do anything with this thing. Thank you for answer Mr Kiichisai. Mr Hill, he the organiser? What "apologia"? Letter seem no saying sorry to me. He go wrong alright! No good showcase for Judo. Not good Judo at all.
Hey, what wrong with MMA? I like MMA very much. Better than this joke underpants thing. You have great Judo player in MMA called Rhonda Rousey. She a very good showcase for Judo in MMA. And she no get good showcase because she wear only underpants up her behind.

IJF RULES FOR COACHES:
If you want to sit in the chair, you need to read the IJF rules. In general: 1. Coaches are required to dress professionally; team sweats or polo shirt in the eliminations; jacket & tie for the semi-finals and finals at the national and international levels. 2. Stay in the chair. 3. No coaching during play, only during the "mate!" periods. 4. No food or drinks. 5. No video cameras. 6. No coaching the referee.

I would just like to say that I spent 4 full days at the comp and thought that it was one of the best tournaments seen yet in Australia. It was extremely well run with the utmost respect shown by all participants, officials and referees.
The Open Mens/Womens competition was held on the final evening. I did not attend and have not spoken to anyone who attended. It is a shame that a monumental lapse of judgement by a small group of people has tarnished what was an otherwise superb family friendly event.
